Rev. Dr. Lonnie L. Slater is the Pastor of the Piney Grove Missionary Baptist Church, Kathleen, Georgia. "The church where you can feel the difference"--because we are making a difference. He also currently serves as the President, 6th District of the General Missionary Baptist Convention of Georgia. Inc. (GMBC) and is an adjunct professor at the Fort Valley State University. Rev. Slater began preaching the Gospel of Jesus the Christ on April 5th 1991 at the United Baptist Church Okinawa, Japan. He has served in a myriad of church positions and has ministered in Japan, Turkey, and Germany as well as various places in the United States. Rev. He has an earned Doctorate of Ministry in Biblical Preaching from Clamp Divinity School of Anderson University in Anderson, SC.

His dedication and drive comes from the passage, "Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these my brethren, you did it to Me." (Matthew 25:40). Rev. Slater believes the church must be biblically literate, socially conscious, relative to the times, active in the community and led by the Holy Spirit.
